Things haven’t been great as of late between the Bengals and Trey Hendrickson, but Joe Burrow isn’t ready to throw in the towel.
With emerging reports that the Bengals are listening to trade offers for their All-Pro defensive end, many wondered if it was now a matter of when, not if, Hendrickson was sent to another team.
But while recent contract talks between the two sides have gone poorly — largely due to guaranteed money — Burrow believes things could pick up very soon.
“I think, historically, these deals with us have gotten done close to Week 1. Historically, it tends to pick up in the next few weeks, so we’ll see,” Burrow said following the Bengals’ preseason win over the Commanders.
Bengals fans certainly have their fingers crossed that this is how things play out and it leads to Hendrickson getting a deal that ensures he finishes his career in Cincinnati.
