Joe Burrow: “The Eagles are paying everybody... That seems like the way”

The Bengals QB’s voice is getting louder and louder.

Joe Burrow doesn’t seem to understand how things work in Cincinnati. And that is a great thing.

The Bengals quarterback hasn’t been shy about his opinion on bringing back Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Trey Hendrickson, and even Mike Gesicki.

This is despite the fact that previous players and coaches either accepted the team’s backward way of managing money or simply got out of town. There was no in-between.

But now, Burrow went out and basically said the front office needs to massively update its approach to free agency by following the model of the most recent Super Bowl champs.

“The Eagles are paying everybody,” Burrow said on the “Pardon My Take” podcast. “That seems like the way, whatever they’re doing.”

Okay, that sounds great, but how in the world do you that?

Burrow indirectly shared the blueprint with Duke Tobin and the Blackburns:

“You could convert some of the money to a signing bonus, which will lower the cap hit... You can push some of the money to the back end of the contract. That lowers the cap hit. … And then when you get to the back end of the contract, you can restructure it and convert it to a signing bonus.”

Ah, genius! All it requires is a team owner willing to spend beyond the bare minimum.

Will Mike Brown and his family actually listen? Time will tell.
