The Minnesota Vikings haven’t taken the field yet for their Week 2 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons at U.S. Bank Stadium, but the team they’ll be hosting next Sunday has had a development that could have a significant effect on them in Week 3.

Joe Burrow, the star quarterback of the Cincinnati Bengals, suffered a left toe injury in the Bengals’ 31-27 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon, and after the game was wearing a walking boot and using crutches, according to our friends at Cincy Jungle.

Burrow suffered the injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s game on a sack. He went to the sideline and required help to get back to the Bengals’ locker room. Jake Browning took over for the Bengals at that point in the game and remained at quarterback for the rest of the contest.

Vikings fans will remember that Browning, a former practice squad member in Minnesota, faced off against the Vikings in a December 2023 matchup in Cincinnati. Trailing 17-3 heading into the fourth quarter, Browning led the Bengals on a furious comeback to force overtime and, ultimately, give the Bengals a 27-24 overtime victory over Minnesota.

The injury to Joe Burrow is definitely going to be something for Vikings fans to keep an eye on as the team prepares for its Week 3 matchup against what will still be a high-powered Bengals offense, regardless of who lines up at quarterback. We’ll be monitoring that and all of the other stories leading up to kickoff right here for you.

UPDATE: Jeremy Rauch of FOX 19 in Cincinnati is reporting that it is believed that Burrow has a turf toe issue with torn ligaments. If that’s the case, he almost certainly will not be at the helm for the Bengals on Sunday afternoon.
