Burrow might be third, but Lamar Jackson sits No. 1.

Joe Burrow would’ve been the NFL MVP if the Cincinnati Bengals had been better this season. While that’s not a 100% true statement, it is one that many believe, as Burrow had an all-time great season.

The former No. 1 overall pick had to put the team on his back consistently with a lacking defense forcing the Bengals behind in many games, a deficit they often couldn’t overcome throughout this past season.

With the Eagles beating the Chiefs handily in the Super Bowl, all eyes are now set on both the 2025 NFL draft and free agency. Following that, the bulk of fans will relax and await the dog days of summer.

The 2025 season will be here before we know it, and MVP odds by most major sportsbooks are up. Joe Burrow, per FanDuel Sportsbook, sits at No. 3 with Lamar Jackson at No. 1. The odds are respectively +600 and +450, with Josh Allen between the two at +500. Patrick Mahomes comes in fourth at +800, so the AFC has quite a bit of elite quarterback play.

Burrow ended the 2024 season with a league-best 4,918 passing yards, 43 touchdowns, 460 completions, and 652 attempts. Put all those league-best figures together, and Burrow should’ve had a shot at MVP; however, Allen won the AP MVP.

Ja’Marr Chase at +10000, and Justin Jefferson (same odds as Chase) are the first receivers on the board. Tee Higgins at +50000 and Trey Hendrickson (same odds as Higgins) both have their name listed as well.

Given that Higgins has shown that massive upside and Hendrickson led the league in sacks this past season, both certainly deserve to see their name among the best in the NFL. Now, let’s just hope Cincinnati can retain both into next season.
