There is often an interesting dichotomy when it comes to former Cleveland Browns. Former Browns players almost always laud the city and the fans, with mixed feelings toward the actual organization. Former Cleveland coaches and executives seem to spend most of their time talking about the Browns in a negative fashion.

Who can blame people like Joe Banner, Cleveland’s former CEO, for having a bit of bitterness toward the team that once employed him? Since parting ways with the Browns, the former Philadelphia Eagles executive has not held another position in the NFL. Whether that was by choice, because of his time in Cleveland or something else is uncertain, but Banner’s general regard for the Browns is obviously negative.

Including this year’s trades of “Prichard and Flacco,” Banner notes his concerns with things going on in Cleveland, including a “way off base team building philosophy” on the offensive line:

We will assume that “Prichard” is actually QB Kenny Pickett.

While some of Banner’s notes on the team are either clearly accurate or make some sense, calling the Browns defense “top third of the defenses in the league,” along with the mistake on Pickett’s name, calls his opinions into question overall.
