NFL legend J.J. Watt did not hold back on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 1933 throwback uniforms that were worn on Sunday night against the Green Bay Packers. Watt thinks they’re one of the worst throwback unis of all time.

“Maybe if the Steelers put on their regular uniforms again and they turn back into good. … I don’t know if you can play good in those,” Watt said on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday.

Watt also ripped the uniforms on X during the game.

“They are quite easily the worst uniform put on an NFL field this season,” Watt wrote on X when asked by a fan if he liked the Steelers’ throwbacks.

Watt stopped short of ever, as there have been other brutal throwbacks among NFL teams.

“There’s been some bad ones. I did not want to go lifetime, but they’re in the discussion,” Watt told McAfee.

McAfee added that the Steelers’ 1933 throwbacks are “in the [Mount] Rushmore of ass unis in history.”

Watt wasn’t the only one who thought the Steelers’ throwbacks were diabolical. Many fans ripped the unis on X during the game.

With the public backlash, you have to wonder if these throwbacks will be one and done.

The Steelers wore similar throwback uniforms in 1994 but they had a black helmet, city crest on the jersey chest and black socks. Much more palatable imo. pic.twitter.com/783Kt65ywI

The newly designed 1933 throwback uniforms pay homage to the 1933 team. The Steelers last wore their 1933 throwback uniforms in 1994. This time, however, they wore their gold helmets, too.

The gold throwback jersey features black stripes, with large white block letters trimmed in black on the front. The front also features the City of Pittsburgh crest on the left shoulder.

The helmet features a gold matte finish with a gray facemask and a black stripe down the middle, while the players complete the look with beige uniform pants.

The beige pants are by far worst part of the uniforms. The helmets are OK, but they did not blend well with the gold jerseys and gold socks. Thankfully the Packers wore their all-white uniforms, as it would’ve been a uniform matchup disaster if they wore their regular gold helmets and gold pants.

The throwback unis against the Packers ruined a classic NFL uniform matchup. All in all, it was a brutal night for the Steelers in primeime. They lost in an embarrassing fashion to the Packers. Packers fans took over Acirsure Stadium, the field conditions were not great, and the throwback uniforms were a disaster.
