The start of the 2025 NFL season is right around the corner, and as a result, the New England Patriots unveiled their new “Nor’easter” uniforms for their Week 11 Rivalries game against the New York Jets.
With this uniform, the Patriots are taking on a new look, wearing a darker shade of blue as their primary uniform color. With white helmets and light gray pants, New England is embracing the gloomy fall weather for which the region is known.
Opinions on the new uniforms have been quite divisive. Some fans love the new design, while others aren’t particularly fond of it. One guy who is a fan, though, is legendary defensive lineman J.J. Watt, as he revealed the Pats uniforms are one of his favorites from the NFL’s Rivalries uniform release on Thursday.
“Initial Reaction: (I reserve the right to change my mind when I see them on the field). We’ve jumped the shark on uniforms. Too many uniforms. Cardinals, Patriots & Jets have the best of the bunch upon first look,” Watt said in a post on X.
While Watt seems to believe that the NFL is doing too much with uniform designs nowadays, that doesn’t mean he can’t appreciate the league’s newest jerseys. New England has received some hate for their uniforms, but Watt is a fan of their latest uniforms.
Of course, it will be a while before the Pats debut these uniforms midway through the season. The team’s primary focus right now is on gearing up for their Week 1 season-opener against the Las Vegas Raiders, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sep. 7.
