Gang Green Nation
The Jets defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8 action. One consistent theme through the early part of the 2025 season is that the Jets have leaned on young players with heavy snap totals. That remained true in the first victory of the season. Eleven first or second year Jets players saw at least 20 percent of the snaps on offense or defense.
Offense
Armand Membou 100%
Olu Fashanu 100%
Mason Taylor 76%
Isaiah Davis 46%
Isaiah Williams 42%
Arian Smith 42%
Defense
Azareye’h Thomas 100%
Malachi Moore 100%
Jarvis Brownlee Jr. 68%
Francisco Mauigoa 32%
Jovon Briggs 22%
Of course not all of these players are seeing a heavy snap share by design. Some have been pressed into duty by injuries.
Still, the Jets are clearly leaning into a youth movement on their 2025 roster. This surely has been a source of the inconsistent play the team has shown through the season
Not all of the young players were good in this game. Malachi Moore, who had been playing pretty well, had a rough one.
When you are playing this many young guys, it is also a sure bet that they won’t all pan out. Some of the players getting snaps will not be part of the team in the future.
But I feel like this is a point that gets overlooked. It’s too simplistic to point to youth as the source of all of the team’s problems, but the Jets are clearly focused on getting young guys game reps and hoping they develop. Improvement over the course of the long season is very important.
Nothing quite shows improvement like a victory.
