The New York Jets try to get back on the winning track at home against the Seattle Seahawks
The New York Jets are at home in East Rutherford, New Jersey to take on the Seattle Seahawks today. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm EST.
The 6-5 Seattle Seahawks currently sit in first place in the NFC West division. The Seahawks have won two straight games, including a 16 - 6 victory over the Arizona Cardinals last week. Prior to their mini winning streak, the Seahawks had lost five of six games. Old friend Geno Smith will be under center for the Seahawks. Smith had a Pro Bowl season with the Seahawks a couple of years ago, but since that one breakout season he has been an average-ish NFL starter. The Seahawks have had a prolific passing attack this season, ranking 2nd in the NFL in passing yards, but they have had a lot of trouble running the ball, ranking 28th in rushing yards. On defense the Seahawks have been mediocre both against the run and against the pass.
The Jets have played extremely poorly this season. They have lost seven of their last eight games, and any playoff hopes have long since vanished. Even their once proud defense has fallen apart over the last several games, and it is currently functioning as one of the worst defenses in the NFL. This is a Jets team that mostly looks like it has checked out and is just playing out the string on one of the most disappointing Jets seasons in memory.
There is little reason to believe the Jets have it in them to pull out a victory against a pretty good Seahawks team today. However, any given Sunday and all that jazz. Let’s see how much pride the Jets have left.
