It’s week 7 of the NFL season and the New York Jets are home in East Rutherford, New Jersey to take on the Carolina Panthers. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EDT.
The Jets have opened the 2025 season with six straight losses. The defense had been horrendous before last week’s game against the Denver Broncos. When the defense finally played well, the Jets offense was spectacularly inept, posting negative net passing yards and allowing nine sacks en route to a gut wrenching 13 – 11 loss to the Broncos. Today the Jets take on an easier opponent, at least on paper, in the Carolina Panthers. However, the way this Jets team has played, no opponent is easy.
The Panthers come into this game with a 3-3 record. They have won three of their last four games, scoring 27+ points in each of their victories. The Panthers run the ball well and they defend against the run well, making them a problem for a Jets team predicated on running the ball. In addition, third year Panthers quarterback Bryce Young has been coming into his own as of late, throwing six touchdown passes in his last three games. Coming into this year the Panthers were thought of as one of the easier matchups on the Jets schedule. Now, this looks like a pretty challenging game.
