The first half of the New York Jets preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles is in the books, and the Jets are trailing the Eagles, 6 – 3.

The game opened with offensive futility by both teams. Neither team found success until the second drive by the Eagles offense. The Eagles put together a short drive midway through the first quarter, aided by what looked like a possible blown coverage by Qwan’tez Stiggers, and kicked a 51 yard field goal for an early 3 – 0 lead.

Late in the first quarter Malachi Moore made a nice play for an interception. The Jets were unable to capitalize, however, as Adrian Martinez was intercepted by the Eagles a few plays later. The first quarter ended with the Eagles driving in Jets territory. The Eagles drive ended a few plays later when they kicked a 53 yard field goal for a 6 – 0 Eagles lead early in the second quarter.

Neither team came close to scoring the rest of the half until Brady Cook led a two minute drill ending in a Nick Folk field goal to bring the Jets within three points as time expired in the second quarter.

Standouts for the Jets in the first half included safety Malachi Moore, who looked like the best player on the field, and wide receiver Brandon Smith, who led the Jets in receptions with three and receiving yards with 42.

We go into the second half with the Jets trailing the Eagles 6 – 3.
