In the New York Jets’ fifth game of the 2025 season, on a warm, bright and sunny early autumn afternoon in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the Jets lost to the Dallas Cowboys, 37 – 22.

The first half saw the Jets take an early 3 – 0 lead on an impressive opening drive. It was all downhill from there. The Cowboys scored 23 unanswered points, including two touchdowns in the last minute of the half. At halftime the Jets found themselves trailing by three touchdowns. They would need a miracle second half to pull this game out.

The Jets opened the third quarter on defense and forced a three and out to start the second half. Unfortunately the Jets offense was unable to capitalize on the good start, as they went nowhere on the first Jets possession of the second half.

Late in the third quarter George Pickens beat Sauce Gardner on a 43 yard bomb for a touchdown and the Jets trailed 30 – 3. The rest of the game was just extended garbage time.

The Jets tacked on a field goal late in the third quarter to make the score 30 – 6 in favor of the Cowboys entering the fourth quarter.

The Jets added a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter against a Dallas defense just trying not to give up big plays. The Cowboys answered with another touchdown, and the Jets closed out the scoring with a meaningless touchdown with less than two minutes to play. The game was over long before all the late scoring.

The humiliating loss brings the Jets’ record to 0-5 to start the 2025 season. They are heading in the wrong direction, losing to two bad teams the last two weeks. This is a dark time for the Jets and their fans. Now the Jets try to recover and move on to preparing for a trip overseas when they face the Denver Broncos in London next week.
