It’s week 2 of the NFL season and the New York Jets are home in East Rutherford, New Jersey to take on their division rivals, the Buffalo Bills. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT at MetLife Stadium.
The Jets opened the 2025 season with a tough 34 -32 loss at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. The Jets offense played extremely well. The Jets offensive line dominated the Steelers front seven, Breece Hall ran with explosiveness and authority, and Justin Fields played one of the best games of his NFL career as the Jets dominated the action for most of the game. Nonetheless, a porous secondary and mistakes at crucial moments led to a heartbreaking loss for the Jets to open the season. Now things get tougher as they take on Josh Allen and the perennial powerhouse Buffalo Bills.
The Bills opened the 2025 season with a miracle comeback win. After Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens dominated the Bills for 56 minutes, they were unable to close the deal. Facing a 15 point deficit with less than four minutes to play, Josh Allen led the Bills to a stunning 16 points in the final 3:56 to pull out an epic 41 – 40 come from behind victory as time expired. While it was a thrilling way for the Bills to open the season, the game did expose some Bills defensive weaknesses, as they were helpless to stop the Ravens’ run-heavy attack for most of the game. The Ravens threw just 19 passes and piled up nearly 240 yards on the ground on their way to 40 points. The Jets will hope to duplicate that kind of success with a running quarterback, a strong ground attack, and limited passing.
This game will be a formidable challenge for a Jets team that has been dominated by Josh Allen and the Bills in recent years. Jets fans can, however, take some hope in the Jets home performances against Allen and the Bills the last three years. The Jets have gone 2-1 and limited the Bills offense to 16, 17 and 23 points the last three games they have played in MetLife Stadium. Perhaps the Jets can continue some of that success today.
It’s the Jets and the Bills in game 2 of the 2025 season today. Enjoy the game everyone.
