Jets head coach Aaron Glenn says the Jets will sit their starters in the team’s third and final preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Jets gave their starters limited work in the first two exhibition contests. Glenn apparently believes that is enough to have them ready for the season.
This is the final preseason game before roster cutdowns. The Jets will need to decide which players they will keep on their initial 53 man roster. They will also need to identify priority targets for their practice squad. This game will give the team a final look at those on the bubble. They will get one last chance to state their case.
The Jets and the Eagles most years have played in the final exhibition game on the calendar. It has jokingly become known as the Backup Bowl since the two teams have sparingly put prominent players on the field. This week’s game will be no exception.
