Garrett Wilson’s early success has landed him a massive 4-year, $130 million contract extensions with the New York Jets.

On Monday afternoon, NFL insider Adam Schefter broke the news that wide receiver Garrett Wilson is receiving a massive 4-year, $130 million contract extension from the New York Jets. Per Schefter, it is the first time in NFL history that a receiver has earned a deal averaging $31 million per year after playing just three professional seasons. The deal also includes $90 million guaranteed.

A fourth-year receiver out of Ohio State, Wilson has begun his career with three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. In his rookie season, Wilson caught 83 passes for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns. Since, he’s followed it up with 1,042 yards in 2023 and a career-high 1,104 yards with seven touchdowns in 2024.

Wilson will enter the 2025 season as the top dog in the Jets receiver room that also features Allen Lazard, Josh Reynolds, and Malachi Corley. This will also be the first year where he’ll be catching passes from his former college quarterback Justin Fields, whom he played with for two seasons at Ohio State.

Will that chemistry from college pick right back up now that they’re both with the Jets? Based on the money that they just handed to Wilson, New York looks to be banking on it.
