The Jets are releasing veteran kicker Younghoe Koo just days after he was signed. Another kicker, Jason Sanders, is being signed to take his roster spot.
The Jets signed Koo less than a week ago so it is a bit of a surprise to see him gone so quickly. Koo reportedly struggled at OTAs. Perhaps that played a bit into the teamβs decision making, although my guess is the Jets just had Sanders higher rated.
Sanders became available yesterday after being unexpectedly cut by the Giants. He spent the first eight years of his career in the AFC East with the Miami Dolphins. During that time he connected on 84.6 percent of his field goal attempts. He broke 90 percent three times.
He has not kicked in an NFL game since 2024 as a hip injury kept Sanders on injured reserve for the entire 2025 season.
Now he will look to bounce back for the Jets.
On a side note, poor Bent wrote a great article on Koo that we posted like five minutes before this was announced. Itβs still worth a read if you interested in the kicker.
