The fifth round pick from Florida State never suited up for the Jets.

Jets quarterback Jordan Travis announced in a social media post that he is retiring from football due to an injury he suffered in his final college game.

The Jets drafted Travis in the fifth round in 2024 hoping he would be able to rehab his injury and eventually develop into a quality NFL signal caller. He spent his entire rookie year on the Non-Football Injury list, which meant he was not healthy enough to practice.

Itโ€™s sad to see a player like Travis lose his NFL dream. Had he not suffered that injury, he likely would have lasted a least a few years in the league.

I also think this should lead Darren Mougey to ask some hard questions of his medical staff. Mougey did not select Travis. Joe Douglas did. However, for a player like Travis the medical department is responsible for projecting whether a player will be capable of continuing his career after a serious injury. Anybody still employed in the organization who was part of the projection on Travis should be explaining what went wrong because the Jets wasted a pick on a player who isnโ€™t physically capable of getting on the field.
