ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported on Tuesday afternoon that the New York Jets were placing star linebacker Quincy Williams on injured reserve due to a shoulder issue.
“LB Quincy Williams (shoulder) will be placed on IR, per source. Means he will miss at least 4 games,” Cimini posted on X.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported further, noting that Williams’ injury wasn’t season-ending, but the team was still addressing the vacancy by looking to the New England Patriots practice squad.
“An inter-AFC East poaching: The #Jets are signing LB Mark Robinson off the #Patriots practice squad, per source,” Pelissero wrote on X. “The other side of this: #Jets LB Quincy Williams is expected to miss time because of the shoulder injury he suffered Sunday, per source. Not season-ending, but he’ll be down for a while.”
The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Mark Robinson in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and he played 38 games across three seasons with the group.
Pittsburgh released the 26-year-old linebacker on Aug. 25, and he signed to New England’s practice squad three days later.
Robinson appeared in each of the Patriots’ first three games this season, though was limited to special teams duties, playing 37 snaps and making three tackles.
