The New York Jets lost their sixth straight game to start the 2025 season on Sunday. The Jets squared off against the Denver Broncos in London, England and fell to the Broncos in an ugly 13 – 11 affair. The Jets had -10 net yards passing and less than 100 yards of total offense in the game.
Despite the complete ineptitude of the Jets offense, the Jets defense kept the team in the game right up until the ignominious end. With just under two minutes remaining in the game the Jets had a first and 10 at the Broncos 46 yard line. They needed just 10 yards or so to get into comfortable range for a potential game winning field goal by Nick Folk. They never came close. Three plays later the Jets had gained just two yards and they faced a choice between an unlikely 62 yard field goal attempt or an unlikely fourth and eight conversion. The Jets chose to go for it on fourth down, Justin Fields took his ninth sack of the game, and that was it. Another loss in the books.
Now the Jets limp home to host the Carolina Panthers next week. The Panthers are far from a great team, but they have already won three games this season, including their last two in a row. The Panthers have scored 27+ points in three of their last four games. The Jets haven’t scored more than 27 points since opening day. It’s difficult to understand why this putrid Jets team is favored here, other than the fact they are the home team and the Panthers have yet to win a road game.
Let’s take a look at the current odds for this game according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The current line has the Jets home favorites by 1.5 points. This is the first game this season the Jets have been favored. The game has an over/under of 43.5 points. On the moneyline the Jets are -116 while the Panthers are -102.
