The Jets need to get their roster down to 53 players by 4:00 pm on Tuesday. Several players have already been let go by the team.

The Jets on Saturday announced they have waived six players: CB Mario Goodrich, T Samuel Jackson, TE Neal Johnson, WR Dymere Miller, DT Fatorma Mullbah and WR Ontaria “Pokey” Wilson.

None of these players was ever considered a likely roster candidate. Early cuts are generally the obvious ones. The Jets will likely go down to the deadline with the tougher decisions. First of all, they will want to explore every angle with their toughest decisions. They also will wait to see whether they might be able to trade any of their roster bubble players as they did with Derek Nnadi on Sunday.

The trade of Nnadi and the placement of Rashad Weaver on injured reserve open up two additional roster spots, but there is plenty of work to still be done.
