Jets and Eagles will play in preseason finale; odds are they won’t meet again

The Jets will face the Eagles in the preseason finale on Friday night. The two teams usually meet in the final preseason game of the year. It has been termed the Backup Bowl because the two teams seldom put their starters on the field. We mostly get players competing for bottom of the roster spots.

The Jets and Eagles are not scheduled to meet during the regular season. The only potential meeting the teams could have after Friday would be in the Super Bowl. The Eagles are viewed as a likely team to make it back to the big game after their second Super Bowl win in franchise history, while the Jets are not.

Just for fun, I decided to take a look at the odds of a Super Bowl rematch between these two teams from our partner, FanDuel Sportsbook. It would be fair to say a Jets-Eagles Super Bowl matchup faces long odds. Those long odds are currently +40,000.

Those are still better than the odds of the Jets’ meeting their other two preseason opponents in the Super Bowl, Green Bay (+75,000) and the Giants (+250,000).
