Inside The Star
Jerry Jones was the first one to talk to the media after the embarrassing loss to the Minnesota Vikings last night.
The biggest issue with this football team is needing to score 35 points every single week to even have a chance to win games, and one of the first questions Jerry was asked was about the defense and the status of Matt Eberflus.
“I’d like to play better defense, and at the end of the day, that’s what he does,” Jones said when asked about Eberflus.
Jones was asked if he still thinks Eberflus is the right coach for the job. His response was clear that his mind has not been made up yet for the 2026 season.
“The adjustments that we should be making (defensively) should be with these next three games in mind,” Jones said. “With three games left in the short time that we’ve got to play them in, then that will impact any adjustments that you make regarding coaching with the time frame we’re dealing with. That’s a legit question.”
The Vikings have one of the worst offenses in football, and the Cowboys, with no turnovers on offense, allowed a team that scores 20 points a game to drop 34 on them.
It is not acceptable guys, and we are still allowing this dude to coach. He makes no in-game adjustments; they had ZERO sacks last night.

McCarthy hasn’t come close to locking up the job as Minnesota’s franchise QB, yet against the Cowboys he looked like it Sunday night, completing 15 of 24 passes for a career-high 250 yards, two touchdowns and one interception to go along with one rushing touchdown.
The offense settled for six field goals. The best in the game missed two of them. The offense was great 20 to 20, but Brian Schottenheimer settled for FGs when you know you have to score touchdowns because of how bad your defense is, just bad coaching.
It was less than five twice on the Vikings plus side of the field and doing all of that was a choice.
Of course, I don’t want to see this defense have to deal with yet another defensive coordinator, but how can you watch these games every single week and think bringing Eberflus back is the right decision?
It is just so frustrating knowing that when they force a third down, you have no confidence that they can get off the field, and it was the same story last night.
