Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones offered his first public comments to reporters following Micah Parsons’ stunning trade request.
On Friday, Micah Parsons went public with his trade request on X/Twitter, posting a lengthy statement about his frustrations with the lack of progress in negotiations. The 26-year-old is entering the fifth and final year of his rookie contract.
Speaking to reporters at practice on Saturday, Jerry Jones didn’t express any concern about Parsons’ demand to be traded, per Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
“I would say to our fans, don’t lose any sleep over this,” Jones said.

It’s not uncommon for a star player to request a trade, only to reverse course and return to their club. It happened with Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) in 2021, Deebo Samuel with the San Francisco 49ers in 2022 and Brandon Aiyuk with the same NFC West club last year.
If Jerry Jones is willing to meet Micah Parsons’ price tag, the four-time Pro Bowler will likely walk back on his trade request and sign an extension. That’s a big “if” though, especially with how Jones negotiates.
The finger can simply be pointed at Jones during this mess. He could have extended Parsons last year and have the matter over with, but he continues to play hardball in negotiations when it’s completely unnecessary.
It’s a mess of his making, and it’s entirely on Jones to get it resolved.
