Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made a statement regarding star wide receiver George Pickens that will probably worry fans.
It appears Jones hasn’t learned much from the Micah Parsons fumble that led to the team losing the defensive end, because it doesn’t seem that he’s willing to change his approach when it comes to negotiations.
Jones attempted to negotiate with Parsons directly, insisting that the player keep his agent out of their discussions.
Of course, it ended in disaster.
And, given what he just said about Pickens, fans would not be blamed for believing that he might go a similar route with the WR.
Pickens has given a good account of himself in Dallas despite the glaring mistakes in a recent loss to the Detroit Lions. He’s registered 92 catches for 1,420 yards and nine touchdowns this season. However, he’s going to be a free agent in 2026 and may have to sit down with Jones if he wants to stick around.
The team owner said on Tuesday that he plans to speak to the player and his agent, David Mulugheta. But he seemed to hint that he’s looking forward to direct talks with Pickens.
“I don’t know,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan.“We’ll see how it goes. Probably both, but I certainly intend to be speaking with George.”
Does #DallasCowboys owner Jerry Jones anticipate negotiating directly with George Pickens or his agent, David Mulugheta?

Jones was adamant about dealing directly with Parsons earlier this year. He made it clear that he didn’t commit any infractions when he dealt with the All-Pro DE.
“There is no violation,” he said in September. “Period. I have all the authority in the world, and the player has all the authority in the world, to negotiate directly with me. There is no equivocation.”
Jones’ move to bring Pickens to Dallas turned out to be a sound one. But he might have a harder time keeping him around.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys have remained in the 21st spot of our Weekly Power Rankings heading into Week 18.
