Jerry Jeudy was the last NFL player to touch the football during the Cleveland Browns‘ loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The final play of the game had a direct impact on sports betting totals.
He refused to lateral!
I cannot imagine Jeudy knew exactly how many yards he needed to hit his expected numbers before he wound up with the ball but NFL fans who lost money want him to be investigated. That’s why they call it gambling!
Most sportsbooks listed Jeudy’s expected receiving yards total at 65.5 for his first game as a member of the Browns. Bets locked at kickoff.
Gamblers who bet the ‘Over’ needed him to record 66 yards or more. Gamblers who bet the ‘Under’ needed him to record 65 yards or less.
Jeudy made four catches for 41 yards during the first 59 minutes and 52 seconds of play. He was targeted seven times by quarterback Joe Flacco.
Cincinnati punted to Cleveland with 30 seconds remaining in the game. The Bengals held a one-point lead. The Browns got the ball back with 19 seconds.
Flacco missed David Njoku on 1st-and-10. He found Jamari Thrash for six yards on 2nd-and-10. Thrash got out of bounds with eight seconds left on the clock.
A false start on the very next play knocked Cleveland back to its own four-yard-line. That left Browns with eight seconds to go 96 yards.
Flacco completed a pass to Jeudy on the last play of the game. Jeudy turned up field and tried to split a pair of defenders but he could not get loose and got tackled. He might’ve had an opportunity to pitch the ball to a teammate. It never happened.
