One of the biggest storylines surrounding the Boston Celtics this offseason has surrounded Jayson Tatum and his injury rehab after he suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the playoffs last year. However, he wasn’t the only player recovering from surgery this offseason, as Jaylen Brown also underwent a procedure to clean up his knee a couple of months ago.

Brown was dealing with a cranky knee for the majority of the 2024-25 season, but he powered through it and turned in another All-Star campaign. In June, he ended up undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, with the expectation being that he’d be ready for the start of training camp.

Sure enough, Brown has progressed as expected, and he’s set to lead Boston into the new season. When asked about his recovery from his surgery, Brown said that it’s been pretty straightforward, while also admitting that the team’s intense training camp schedule has made things easier for him from a recovery standpoint.

“Pretty seamless, it’s just been reps for me, physicality and reps,” Brown said on Monday. “The harder the practices, the more that my body adapts.”

With Tatum expected to miss the majority of the 2025-26 campaign, and guys like Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford and Luke Kornet on new teams, that means the spotlight is going to be on Brown all season long in Boston.

While he has embraced the challenge to this point, the key for him is going to be staying healthy throughout the year. So far, he appears to be on the right track, and he will look to get some game action under his belt when the Celtics kick off their preseason slate on Wednesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies.
