You’ve probably seen Jayden Reed’s viral “Packers to the Bowl, bruh” video after surgery on his broken collarbone, but now the Packers’ wide receiver is giving fans a glimpse at what his recovery process looks like beyond anaesthesia-fueled predictions.

Reed broke his collarbone during the Packers’ Week 2 win over the Washington Commanders while hauling in what should have been a 39-yard touchdown pass. The play, Reed’s best of the season, was negated by a holding penalty and Reed’s season was put on hold due to the injury. But now, he’s showing a little bit more of what life has been like as he recovers from not just one, but two surgeries in a short video documentary on YouTube.

In addition to surgically repairing his broken collarbone, doctors also addressed a Jones fracture in Reed’s foot, putting him in both a sling and a walking boot at the same time. The video shows Reed’s post-surgery prediction, but also shows the difficult reality of recovering from simultaneous surgeries once the initial anaesthesia wears off. Wrapped up in blankets, Reed looks positively miserable hanging out in his hospital room.

But things get better. Reed is able to ditch his sling within a couple of weeks, and the documentary shows him heading to Lambeau Field for some recovery work before he heads out to the Green Bay Farmer’s Market for dinner (which he initially rates a 7/10 before bumping it to 8.5/10 after he drinks some green apple lemonade).

Reed then unwinds with some video games, getting philosophical about life and competition as he does.

“You never know when it’s your last time being out there,” he tells the camera somewhat wistfully, four game balls on a shelf behind him. The games in question? The Packers’ 30-14 win over the Titans in 2024, the Packers’ 29-22 win over the Lions on Thanksgiving in 2023, the Packers’ 33-10 win over the Vikings in 2023, and the Packers’ 17-9 win over the Bears in 2023. Reed had 18 total catches for 285 yards and three touchdowns across those four games.

For the time being, unfortunately, Reed’s competition is limited to video games, but he says in the video he views those games as a way of staying competitive while he’s not on the field.

“I play every game from football to basketball to Call of Duty, so this is my way of competing right now since I can’t go out there on the field and compete.”

The entire documentary is available now on Reed’s YouTube channel.
