Jayden Daniels’ mother, Regina Jackson, has responded to critics who suggest she is obsessed with her son.

Daniels is headed to his second season in the NFL after a remarkable rookie campaign with the Washington Commanders that culminated in a Pro Bowl selection, with the quarterback also being named Offensive Rookie of the Year.

While Daniels is lauded for his ability, his relationship with his mother has come under intense scrutiny, as well as criticism. Jackson has been at her son’s side at times you perhaps would not expect to see a mom around. She was even seen attending Brandon Aiyuk’s wedding as his plus-one.

Her closeness with Jayden was among the topics discussed when she sat down for an interview on ‘The Pivot’ podcast last week.

Jackson admitted that she is keen on protecting her son from women who would look to take advantage of him and use him for wealth and status, which is her biggest fear.

“That should be every parent’s biggest fear. I’m a mom that protects my son,” Regina said.

“Your dollar amount is associated with your name,” she added, “so you never know who’s there for you and who’s really against you.”

“My son can date, he can live freely, and make his own decisions,” Regina said of her son’s dating life. “However, the relationship we have, he does value my opinion because when my kids were little, I did a lot for them. I worked too hard to allow anybody at any moment to come in and just take it away.

“I have a view of what I feel a good person is.”

Regina admitted that her son is a grown man at 24 and has to learn on his own. She would also reveal that she is working on preparing a future for him after football and managing his off-field affairs, such as his foundations and other endeavors.
