Early Wednesday morning, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Panthers star cornerback Jaycee Horn was involved in a car accident on his way to the Panthers facility. Right away, the Panthers announced Horn would not practice on Wednesday. Thankfully, however, it doesn’t look like Horn sustained any serious injuries in the crash and is being held out for precautionary reasons.

Horn and the Panthers agreed to a massive extension earlier this offseason that ties him to the franchise through the 2029 season and will pay him $100 million over the span (with $70 million guaranteed).

The former South Carolina Gamecock was selected by the Panthers in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. After playing in just three games as a rookie, Horn returned from injury to start 13 games in 2022, nothing three interceptions and seven pass breakups. Injuries caught up with him again in 2023, limiting him to only six games that year.

This past season, Horn started a career-high 15 games for the Panthers, hauling in one interception and recording a new high mark of 13 pass breakups to go with 68 tackles and two sacks. He would go on to be named to this first Pro Bowl following the regular season.
