We’ve seen Jauan Jennings throw a touchdown pass before. It was in the Super Bowl for Christian McCaffrey. Unfortunately, the San Francisco 49ers lost that game. But that doesn’t mean if something works, you shouldn’t do it again:

This play is from the 49ers’ 23-19 win over the Philadelphia Eagles — a play that will be talked about all week. That call from Tom Brady makes it even better. He saw what was about to happen before any of us did.

“I was just thinking, get the ball, execute, tuck the ball away, make the defense think I’m running it,” Jennings said following the game. “I saw Christian get open, [and] made the right pass.”

That now makes Jauan Jennings the first player in NFL history to have a perfect passer rating in multiple playoff games. It also makes the Jauan Jennings–Christian McCaffrey connection unbeatable — every Jennings pass to McCaffrey has gone for a touchdown. One more note: one of Jauan Jennings’ games was against Vic Fangio, who is a highly regarded defensive coordinator.

“Honestly, I thought he overthrew it,” 49ers left tackle Trent Williams said following the game. “I thought the wind took it a little bit.”

“I did, I did,” Jennings said when asked about Williams’ assessment. “I really did. I was scared for a little bit, but after I heard the screams, it seems like he [McCaffrey] had to make a great catch. Coming off my hand, I definitely thought I threw it a little bit too far.”

Jennings’ career began as a quarterback. Playing for Blackman High School, Jennings converted to wide receiver in college at Tennessee. It’s been his position ever since.

“Just during the play, I feel like I was quarterbacking back at Blackman High School,” Jennings said. “I snapped back into reality real quick. I’m a receiver, and I’m just out there trying to get open for Brock [Purdy].”

In his “normal” role of wide receiver, Jennings notched 45 yards receiving and one touchdown. You also saw him tangled up in a few plays doing the blocking he’s known for.

Now the 49ers have the Seahawks. The 49ers lost to the Seahawks two weeks ago in the final game of the 2025 NFL regular season. The Seahawks held the 49ers to three points on offense in what could best be described as a miserable game.

Jennings doesn’t sound like someone worried about the rematch:
