Field Gulls
Seattle Seahawks kicker Jason Myers won NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for November after a nearly flawless showing of field goal and extra point kicking, not to mention how his kickoffs have been elite all season.
Against the heavy underdog Indianapolis Colts, Myers represented all of the points the Seahawks scored, and they needed all 18.
Myers was a perfect 6-for-6 on his field goals, including from 56 yards to win the game with :18 left. Barely a half-minute earlier, the Seahawks lost their slender 15-13 lead on a career-long 60-yard field goal from Blake Grupe.
Myers became the first Seahawks kicker to ever make six field goals in a game.
His only miss since the bye week was a 61-yard game-winning attempt in the loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He’s yet to miss an extra point and he now leads the NFL in field goals made. Yes, Myers leads the league in attempts but part of it is the Seahawks have been a high scoring offense regardless of whether they’re getting touchdowns or field goals.
Thanks to Myers, the Seahawks are on the cusp of a playoff berth and very much alive for the NFC West title and No. 1 overall seed.
