And it’s about damn time

After falling just short of the mark in his first four attempts, a Minnesota Vikings legend is finally getting his bust in Canton.

It has just been announced that defensive end Jared Allen, who played for the Vikings for six seasons from 2008 to 2013, is going to be a part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

Allen was acquired by the Vikings from the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2008 offseason for a first-round pick and a pair of third-round picks. In his six seasons in Minnesota, he collected 85.5 of his 136 career quarterback sacks. He also had 16 forced fumbles and nine fumble recoveries to go along with four interceptions and two defensive touchdowns.

He set the franchise record for sacks in a season when he collected 22 of them in 2011 and was a three-time first-team All-Pro during his time in Minnesota. He also remains tied for the NFL record for the most safeties collected in a career with four and the most safeties collected in a season with two in 2008.

Allen will be one of just four players who will be going into Canton in 2025, the smallest class that has been enshrined in 20 years. He will be joined by former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Sterling Sharpe, former San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, and former Eagles, Saints, and Raiders cornerback Eric Allen.

This year’s class will be enshrined during the week of the 2025 Hall of Fame Game, which will take place in Canton in early August to kick off the 2025 preseason.

Congratulations to Jared Allen on finally getting his call to immortality with his enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame!
