Buffalo Rumblings
The Buffalo Bills got a career game from James Cook on Sunday. Not only did he set a career high with 216 rushing yards, he ran for more yards in a game than any Bills player since the 1970s. It’s also the most in a game in the 2025 season.
Cook started the game with several 12-yard runs, and just kept ripping chunk plays. The big play was a 64-yard touchdown run where he was never touched. He finished the day with two touchdowns and averaged 11.4 yards per rush.
The last time a Bills running back topped 216 yards was in 1976 when O.J. Simpson set the team’s all-time record with 273 yards against the Detroit Lions. Simpson had four games over 219 yards. The only other player in the top five was Cookie Gilchrist with 243 in 1963. Thurman Thomas’s career high was 214 yards with Fred Jackson at 212.
