James Cook is currently negotiating a new contract with the Buffalo Bills. However, a portion of the fanbase has since turned against their starting running back because of his behavior at a local youth football camp.
They were let down by his lack of enthusiasm and interest.
Cook will be on the last year of his rookie contract during the upcoming NFL season. The 25-year-old believes he deserves a new deal after back-to-back 1,000-yard+ seasons and 18 total touchdowns in 2024. Buffalo relies on its running back as a primary catalyst for the offense and reached the AFC Championship last season in large part because of his 4.9 yards per carry out of the backfield.
Thus, James Cook is asking $15 million per year on an extension. He will not get that money from his current team. The Bills are not going to come anywhere close to that number.
They are at a standoff with no compromise in sight. It could eventually lead the organization to move on.
In the meantime, Cook is traveling throughout upstate New York for a series of youth football camps. He held three different camps in Rochester, Buffalo and Albany.
According to multiple parents whose children were in attendance, James Cook was not friendly. Nor did he act like he wanted to be there. A woman by the name of Heather Ann claims he showed up late, barely cracked a smile and did not participate in the scheduled (paid) meet and greet.

My kids do free camps all the time and local ones we pay for- we specifically went to this one because they wanted to MEET James Cook as they are Bills fans! Well James Cook is NOT a friendly, fan loving person that is for sure! I did reach out to the woman who runs the flex work camps as they are the people that hosted it and she is NOT happy. James Cook charges 20k per 3 hours! Absurd

Other parents echoed her frustrations.
The people of Buffalo were bummed to hear about Cook’s alleged attitude.
“My friend took her 10-year-old son to his camp on Tuesday. Her son said he was rude and acted like he didn’t even want to be there. One point told child he was ‘asking too many questions.’ Not cool… Bills players are always great with kids! James Cook you should be ashamed of yourself. As a long time Bills fan I am so disappointed in him and his behavior,” commented ame_buzz.
Apparently this has been a reoccurring issue over the past few years.
“Yeah took my son last year and never again. He was rude no enthusiasm. We skipped this year,” said Heaven.
“We were just at the Rochester one yesterday. He walked out the same but we were told he is not a talker. He isn’t an interaction type,” added @hockeyteachermomma54.
