Joe Burrow’s comments on Wednesday about some of his emotional struggles as a quarterback have made national headlines.

The Cincinnati Bengals QB reflected on the season and said, “If it’s not fun, then what am I doing it for?”

Many took that comment — as well as him acknowledging that he has “a lot of things going on” both on and off the field — to mean he is fed up with the Bengals’ organization.

Ja’Marr Chase, who has known Burrow since their LSU days, didn’t necessarily see it that way.

Of course, that is after he was able to wrap his head around the comments and put them in perspective.

In the video below, Chase first asked reporters if the video was even real. “I thought this was A.I.,” he said. “Did this really happen, though?”

When it was clarified that the video was real, Chase hinted that the media’s interpretation doesn’t align with what he sees from Burrow up close.

“I see the same person every day,” the star receiver said. “He comes to work, and he loves work. He doesn’t look like he’s bummed to be here… The man loves the game… There’s no negativity in the building from him.”

That’s a sigh of relief for Bengals fans.

Up next, Burrow and Chase will try to stay in the AFC North division race by beating the Baltimore Ravens at home.

The last time the two teams met, Burrow was returning from a toe injury, and he and the Bengals completely outplayed Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. Watch the highlights below:
