Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase named three Pittsburgh Steelers cornerbacks in his top-four ranking.

Ja’Marr Chase has had some decent success against the Pittsburgh Steelers. His chemistry with Joe Burrow has been as strong as ever–prompting the Steelers to draft press corners. Chase recently went on The Sitdown w/ Malik Wright podcast and named three Steelers as top cornerbacks in the NFL.

The first corner the Steelers acquired after Chase’s first two years was Joey Porter Jr. Chase provided some praise for Porter on the show.

“Porter [is] pretty smooth … He’s just long,” Chase said of the third-year corner out of Penn State. Porter’s wing span and arm length made him an intriguing prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Steelers selected him 32nd overall that season.

Chase then listed the Steelers’ two offseason acquisitions: Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay. “It’s gonna be fun going against Ramsey and Darius Slay. I had an opportunity to go against [Slay] this year and [Ramsey] my rookie year [in the Super Bowl.]”

Chase declared those three as the top three of four cornerbacks in the NFL. Against the Bengals this season, Slay was targeted six times. He allowed three receptions for 52 yards with no touchdowns allowed.

Ramsey had a less memorable matchup. Before joining the Steelers and Miami Dolphins, he played for the Los Angeles Rams. In his Super Bowl season, Ramsey battled Chase and Tee Higgins. He was targeted nine times and allowed five receptions, 160 yards, and a long 75-yard touchdown.

Though both corners defeated the Bengals in their matchups, Porter knows Chase is a tough assignment. In November, he responded to Chase boasting of a big performance.

“He’s telling the truth. Wait for the show,” Porter said. “It’s gonna be on Sunday. It’s gonna be watched, and I’m ready. Whatever happens, I’m ready with it.”

With Porter acknowledging Chase’s strong ability and Chase praising the Steelers’ corners, there may be some respect between the rivals. Regardless, the two will be ready to outperform each other on the field.
