PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers’ secondary almost took a big hit during the third quarter of their do-or-die matchup with the hated Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night. Defensive back Jalen Ramsey exited the game after taking a shot.

Ramsey was covering Ravens tight end Mark Andrews on a crosser route when receiver Zay Flowers, coming from the opposite side, ran into him.

Ramsey laid on his back for a moment before getting up and heading to the sideline. He didn’t enter the blue medical tent.

Ramsey returned for the following series.

A 10th-year veteran, Ramsey has been a key part of the Steelers’ secondary this season. He’s played both at each position in the defensive backfield, including safety, where he’s been stationed against the Ravens.

When Ramsey went out, he had five total tackles and a pass defended. Entering the night, he had 82 total stops, three sacks, an interception and seven passes defended.

Behind Ramsey at safety, the Steelers have Chuck Clark and Jabrill Peppers.

Ramsey is a three-time first-team Associated Press All-Pro who has also had stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams and Miami Dolphins. He was one of three Steelers players to be voted as a Pro Bowler this season.
