The Eagles’ QB admits that the background of his phone is still a picture of him leaving the field in 2023 surrounded by red and gold confetti.
Ahead of the 2023 NFL season, it was inadvertently revealed that Jalen Hurts had a picture of him walking off the field in Arizona surrounded by red and gold confetti after losing to the Chiefs in the final minutes of Super Bowl LVII. He didn’t speak on it much at the time, and even mentioned that if it were up to him, no one would even know about it. Now, as he prepares to take the field in a rematch of that game, the QB admitted that picture is still his screensaver.
Hurts spoke to Rich Eisen ahead of Super Bowl LIX who asked the Eagles quarterback if that was still on the background of his phone, to which he replied simply, “It is.” When asked why, Hurts smiled, and said, “Let’s just see if it changes.” The QB went on to acknowledge that he doesn’t need to be reminded of anything, but it’s there.
And, it’s been there every day for nearly two years. A constant reminder of being so close to victory, yet falling crushingly short of the ultimate goal. That picture keeps that feeling fresh and at the forefront of his mind everyday.
Hurts has been waiting two years for a chance to change his screensaver, and hopefully on Sunday night he can update it with one of him standing on the field in New Orleans, arms raised up in celebration, surrounded by beautiful green confetti.
