The Philadelphia Eagles are officially Super Bowl champions for the first time since they won in 2017.
A blowout victory was surprising, especially since the Kansas City Chiefs were betting favorites heading into the game by a narrow margin.
The Eagles got off to a hot start, which included a pick-six from rookie CB Cooper DeJean, and didn’t look back.
Kansas City couldn’t get anything going on offense in the first half, and while they ended up scoring a few times in the second half, their efforts were futile.
The Eagles were just too dominant for them to mount a comeback, and Jalen Hurts put together a mostly mistake-free performance.
Because of the way he played and how strong their defense was, Hurts became just the third quarterback to beat Mahomes in the playoffs, as B/R Gridiron highlighted on X, joining Joe Burrow and Tom Brady in an exclusive group.

Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals took Mahomes down in the AFC Championship, and Brady beat him in the AFC Championship and Super Bowl.
Hurts didn’t necessarily have a fantastic game when looking at the box score, but his ability to read the field and convert on key first-downs was necessary for this win.
The Chiefs shut down Saquon Barkley, who looked human in this game, but they had a hard time stopping Hurts on the ground, who finished this contest as the game’s leading rusher.
There might have been some questions about Hurts and his ability to win in clutch situations heading into this game, but they have certainly been answered now that he’s a Super Bowl champion.
