Jalen Hurts is once again speaking on why he missed the Eagles’ visit to the White House last month.

The star quarterback was noticeably absent when the Philadelphia Eagles visited the White House on April 28 to celebrate their 2025 Super Bowl win with President Donald Trump.

To be fair, at least a dozen other Eagles players also missed the trip. Cornerback Darius Slay, safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, defensive ends Brandon Graham and Josh Sweat, tackle Jalen Carter, and linebacker Zack Baun are just some of the notable names that were not there.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Hurts doubled down on the reason for his absence. “I wasn’t available,” the Super Bowl MVP said. “I don’t think that’s pertinent. Everyone who went, and was available, they seemed to enjoy themselves.”

Leading up to the visit, reports surfaced that the quarterback would not participate due to “scheduling conflicts.”

Roughly 30 players attended the White House ceremony for the Eagles on April 28, which included star running back Saquon Barkley, who had spent the day before with President Donald Trump playing golf in New Jersey.

Jalen Hurts previously sidestepped questions over whether he would attend the celebration leading up to the event.

Donald Trump still praised the Eagles quarterback, calling him a “terrific guy and terrific player.”

The White House described Hurts’ absence as part of “scheduling conflicts.”

Jalen Hurts Has Bigger Fish To Fry

Since his Super Bowl win, Hurts has been enjoying the offseason as a newlywed with wife Bryonna “Bry” Rivera Burrows.

The couple confirmed they had tied the knot as part of Men’s Health magazine’s May/June 2025 cover story.

Hurts is going into his sixth season with an 89-20 record as a full-time starter in college and the NFL.

He’s made the playoffs in all of those seasons, with four title game appearances, a top-two finish in the MVP and Heisman Trophy voting, and a Super Bowl championship with a Super Bowl MVP.

Now, he will try to join an exclusive company and go back-to-back with another Super Bowl win.
