From our sister site Sports Betting Dime, an Alabama Senator says his colleagues won’t pass sports betting legislation, but they wagered on Jalen Hurts and the Eagles:

Sen. Greg Albritton (R-22) said during an appearance on last week’s “The Jeff Poor Show” that he is two to three votes shy of being able to pass a piece of sports betting legislation out of the Senate. Ironically, he noted that bets were being made in the State House on former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles for the Super Bowl.

“I would have a bill today dropped if I had 21 votes in the Senate,” he said.

Unfortunately, Albritton said an appetite for sports betting has yet to reveal itself in the Senate, despite lawmakers actively placing bets on the recent Super Bowl.

“I don’t have 21 votes in the Senate. I’ve got to have 21 votes in the Senate to move this along. And keep in mind now, last week, before Sunday’s Super Bowl, bets were being made in the State House, I’ll say it that way, on the upcoming Super Bowl. Bets were being made. I think Jalen Hurts made a lot of money for people in Alabama in that win,” Albritton said during the show.

Yeah obviously Jalen Hurts and the Birds made these legislators some money. Because they smoked the Chiefs. Hurts anytime touchdown scorer cashed early in the game. He threw a couple of TD passes and Smitty scored on a bomb. The Eagles covered the spread easily. It was awesome baby!

It’s only fair that if the politicians are making their betting money, ALLEGEDLY, then you legalize and open it up to the general public. Alabamians must have the same opportunities we have with NJ betting apps and PA sports betting apps. They must be able to experience the “thrill of victory, the agony defeat,” as U GOD once rapped for the Wu Tang Clan. Johnny from Huntsville wants to build his three-leg parlay: Crimson Tide to go 15-0, make the CFP, and win the national title. Could you imagine how much money the Iron Bowl would do every year? War damn Eagle! Roll Tide! It’s time to bring legal sports betting to the great people of Alabama. These legislators need to do the right thing and vote yes.
