The Philadelphia Eagles have much more than a great quarterback in Jalen Hurts.
They also have a leader, and not just on the field.
He has always drawn praise for his strong character and leadership skills.
Now, his agent, Nicole Lynn, just shared a heartwarming story to explain the kind of person he is.
She said Hurts refused to sign his record-breaking contract in 2023 until he learned how it would affect the franchise’s finances, salary cap and his teammates’ situations.
“He’s like, ‘Don’t [hurt] the team. Make sure my team is around me.’ So, I remember actually coming back to him the day that the deal was done and said, ‘Hey, you’re the highest-paid player in NFL history.’ His response was, ‘I didn’t ask you to do all that.’ And I was just like, ‘Uh, thanks? I thought you were gonna say “Good job.”‘ But he was so concerned about his team. ‘How am I going to keep my team around? How are these guys still going to get paid?’ He wanted me to show him how this affects the cap. He needed to be educated on that before he would let me accept the deal because he cared so much about his teammates,” Lynn said, via Dov Kleiman.

That’s not something that happens often in professional sports.
Players rarely leave any money on the table, and there’s no need to judge them because of that.
This is their livelihood, and they are the ones putting their health at risk, missing time with their families and putting up with constant workout routines to get on the field.
Then again, some know that there’s more to it than just the money and the fame.
Tom Brady famously left money on the table multiple times to make sure the New England Patriots could continue to pay everybody around him and stay competitive for years.
As a result, he won six Super Bowls with the organization.
Quarterbacks are making generational wealth as it is, so when is enough enough?
According to his agent, Hurts seems to know.
