You might be thinking, what did Jake Ferguson do on a Wednesday after the Cowboys season has been over for nearly a month?
Well, with the injury to George Kittle, Ferg was added to the Pro Bowl for his second selection in his career.
With the selection, he becomes the fifth Cowboys tight end to have multiple Pro Bowl nods. He joins Jason Witten (11), Jay Novacek (5), Doug Cosbie (3) and Billy Joe DuPree (3).
Dallas’ six Pro Bowlers in 2025 are currently tied for most in the NFL with Baltimore, Denver, San Francisco and Seattle. The funny thing is, only one of those five guys were on defense and it was Williams who played 90% of the year with the New York Jets.
Just shows how bad the defense was and how good the offense was.
Coming into this season, we all, including myself, had questions about the production of Ferguson and if he was still the guy to lead the tight end room after his great 2023 season.
Across the four seasons, Ferguson has played in 64 games with 48 starts, totaling 231 receptions for 2,029 yards and 15 touchdowns. This past year was one to remember for the 27-year-old, as he hauled in 82 passes for 600 yards and eight scores.
His reception total was good for second on the Cowboys, behind only wide receiver George Pickens, and tied for third among all NFL tight ends.
Last season for Ferg was not ideal and after only registering 59 catches for 494 yards and no touchdowns, folks thought it was time again to maybe move on.
Yet, after signing a four-year, $52 million contract extension in July 2025, including $30 million guaranteed and a $12 million signing bonus, it was the perfect time for him to have a bounce-back year.
Many, and I mean many, thought the contract he signed was another bad one made up by Jerry.
For some reason, Dallas loves drafting tight ends every single draft and it really makes no sense.
Ferguson had a career-high eight touchdowns this season, he was a bright spot in the red zone this year.
Now that we shouldn’t be worried about Ferguson, I think Brevyn Spann-Ford should be the TE2 next season.
Luke Shoonmaker has not lived up to standards, and does not do anything as well as the undrafted Spann-Ford does.

Spann-Ford earned five starts in 2025 and finished with nine catches for 90 yards and a touchdown.
But his value to the team lies more in his blocking in the run game. If he continues to progress, he not only should be TE2...
