After months of trying to get him to take a pay cut while shopping for trade partners, the Green Bay Packers finally released Jaire Alexander earlier this month. It didn’t take the two-time Pro Bowl cornerback long to find a new team, landing a one-year, $4 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens.
While the Packers weren’t able to find a team willing to take on Alexander’s bloated salary for the 2025 NFL season, there were still several teams interested in his services.
Specifically, according to ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, before he signed with the Ravens, Alexander also considered contract offers from the Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins are especially notable, considering they’re trying to find a trade destination for Jalen Ramsey.
Meanwhile, the Falcons have been eagerly looking for impactful defensive contributors since Raheem Morris took over as head coach, and the two-time Pro Bowl corner would have certainly fit the bill in Atlanta.
In the end, Fowler notes that the Ravens had the “clear edge” when pursuing Alexander, which led to a quick signing. As a former college teammate at Louisville, having Lamar Jackson vouch for Alexander likely didn’t hurt his cause either.
