One of the most hilarious and short-lived trade rumors regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers was their supposed interest in trading for Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence.
On Monday morning, Lawrence appeared on Kay Adams’ Up & Adams sports talk show to set the record straight. The Jaguars signal-caller explained that he first learned about the report through his agent.
Lawrence put an end to the speculation and dismissed any interest in joining the Pittsburgh Steelers:
“I have a no-trade clause in my contract. I would know about it if I was getting traded or if something was going to happen. I would have to be on board with it—which I’m not.”
He went on to emphasize that his love for Jacksonville is ultimately why he remains with the Jaguars:
“I don’t want to leave Jacksonville. I’m happy here, obviously. Not going to Pittsburgh.”

Fans of the Black and Gold can breathe a collective sigh of relief, as Lawrence has done little with the Jaguars to prove he would be of any value for the future of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
