The Jacksonville Jaguars are interviewing former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line coach Shaun Sarrett for their vacant offensive line coach position, according to Michael DiRocco of ESPN. Sarrett is currently the assistant offensive line coach with the Minnesota Vikings.
Sarrett took over for his mentor Mike Munchak as the Steelers offensive line coach in 2019. Prior, he had served as an offensive assistant (2012-17) and assistant offensive line coach (2018).
Sarrett’s tenure as the Steelers offensive line coach was short, however, lasting only two seasons. The run game ranked last in the league Sarrett was dealing with an aging offensive line, but the rapport was never there.
A Beckley, West Virginia native, Sarrett played college football at Kent State and coached at Marshall and Duke before joining the Steelers.
In 2021, Sarrett landed a job with the Los Angeles Chargers as the assistant offensive line coach. He was the assistant OL coach in L.A. for three seasons before the new Jim Harbaugh regime. He joined Kevin O’Connell’s staff as the Vikings assistant offensive line coach in 2024 and currently holds a position there.
The Jaguars named Liam Coen as their new head coach on Jan. 24. Coen was previously the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Jaguars are still looking for a new general manager, so Coen is fully in charger of assembling his staff. After a short tenure as the Steelers offensive line coach, Sarrett could land another role as an offensive line coach instead of being an assistant.
