The Jaguars are hiring James Gladstone to be the next GM
Liam Coen didn’t want to work with Trent Baalke as general manager if the Jaguars were to hire him as their next head coach and now we probably know why: Coen wanted to go back to one of his connections on the L.A. Rams.
The Jaguars are hiring Rams exec James Gladstone to be the next general manager. That pairs the 2022 Rams offensive coordinator with someone who has been working under Les Snead for the better part of a decade.
As we wrote last week, could this open up a potential trading pipeline from the Jaguars to the Rams? That’s a big question as quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Trevor Lawrence are at the center of various rumors, as well as Cooper Kupp, and the Gladstone hire comes four years after the Lions hired Brad Holmes.
A former Rams exec, Holmes immediately swapped quarterbacks Stafford and Jared Goff with his former boss Snead.
This is an entirely different situation than that one. But now that Jacksonville has made it apparent that they do want to emulate L.A.’s success by hiring a head coach off the McVay tree and a GM off of the Snead one, anything is possible.
