The Jacksonville Jaguars made the decision to extend one of their key players, as Ross Matiscik becomes the highest-paid long snapper, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
“The Jaguars are signing long snapper Ross Matiscik to a 2-year extension worth $3.8M in new money, per me and [Mike Garafolo]. The NFL’s new highest-paid long snapper. Matiscik has made 3 straight Pro Bowls. Now paid like it in a deal done by Jonathan Perzley of [Sportstars],” Rapoport wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
This should come as no surprise, especially looking at what Matiscik has done the past few years. He made the Pro Bowl for the third consecutive year, and he played 123 special teams snaps in 2025, making four tackles, which was tied for second in the league among long snappers. Since coming into the league in 2020, his 22 tackles on special teams are tied for the most at his position.
This extension is good news for the Jaguars’ special teams core, as punter Logan Cooke signed his extension last year, and kicker Cam Little has two years left on his rookie deal.
The Jaguars are trying to build on the success they had as a team last season, and with another year under head coach Liam Coen, they should be able to do so.
One player they seem excited to get back is Travis Hunter, whose rookie season was cut short after an LCL injury.
“I feel a lot stronger. It was me going in (the weight room) and getting my overall body right and just getting in shape. I couldn’t run, so (the weight room) was my best friend and being able to let out some of the anger because I (didn’t) have my two feet,” Hunter said Ryan O’Halloran of the Jacksonville Florida Times-Union.
