The Jacksonville Jaguars lost a close game to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, 31-27. An awkward interaction between the head coach and quarterback is now going viral.

Trevor Lawrence was seen disregarding Liam Coen’s criticism after an incomplete pass. Cohen’s postgame comments suggest there are much deeper issues in the locker room.

The two NFL teams traded blows throughout the contest. Jacksonville led on multiple occasions. Cincinnati responded at each opportunity.

With that being said the Jaguars had a chance to end the game late in the fourth quarter. The offense had the ball inside the 10-yard line with a three-point lead after an interception. A touchdown would’ve put the game on ice.

Jacksonville went backwards on first down. On second down, Lawrence threw wide of his intended target. Coen exploded on the sidelines.

His response made immediate headlines. Lawrence waved off his coach’s criticism. He didn’t have time for the disrespect during a crucial moment of the contest.

The offense would later stall thanks to a dropped pass by Brian Thomas Jr. on fourth down. The Bengals then drove the length of the field to score the game-winning touchdown.

Coen was asked about his quarterback after the fact.

“We can win with him playing like that, and obviously limiting the turnovers… I was very proud of the competitor that he was today.”

“I was very proud of the competitor that he was today,” he said. There were mistakes, but Lawrence played well enough to get his team a win.

The signal caller threw for 271 yards and three scores. He had two interceptions. He was also victimized by a number of dropped passes.

Are there deeper issues with the Jaguars?

Liam Coen suggested the answer was yes. He specifically hinted at one player’s lack of heart.

Thomas, who dropped the fourth-down conversion on the final drive, was singled out by fans and a former player. They said he was playing scared.

One particular play sparked a negative reaction amongst the fanbase. It came on a potential touchdown pass, which hit the receiver’s hand before falling harmlessly to the ground.

Thomas appeared to brace for contact rather than track the football.

Even plays in which he made catches were being questioned. Coen was asked his thoughts after the game.

“I’ve got to go watch it and figure out what that was all about,” the coach said. “I’ve gotta take a look at that.”
