The Jacksonville Jaguars have 30 seasons in the books. Let’s debate their greatest players at every position.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are preparing for their 31st season as an NFL franchise.
To commemorate their history — and to provide content during the dry part of the offseason — we’d like your help in naming the team’s greatest players at every position.
Here are the nominees for Jacksonville’s All-Time Running Back.
Stats: 11,271 rushing yards, 2,361 receiving yards, 70 total touchdowns, 4.6 yards per carry
Bio: A first-round pick in 1998, Taylor quickly became one of the league’s most explosive running backs. He topped 1,000 rushing yards in seven of his 11 seasons with Jacksonville and still holds the franchise record for career rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. Taylor was named to the Pro Bowl in 2007 and later inducted into the Pride of the Jaguars in 2012. The only players in NFL history with more career rushing yards and a higher average yards per carry are Barry Sanders and Jim Brown.
Stats: 8,071 rushing yards, 2,873 receiving yards, 79 total touchdowns, 4.5 yards per carry
Bio: Drafted in the second round in 2006, “MJD” became an instant fan favorite thanks to his bowling-ball power and big-play ability. He served as both a backfield weapon and electric return man early in his career before taking over full-time duties in 2009. Jones-Drew led the NFL in rushing yards in 2011 and earned three Pro Bowl nods over his eight seasons in Jacksonville. He ranks second in team history in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns behind Taylor.
Time to vote!
(We plan on having about four nominees for most positions but this is a clear two-man race.)
